One of the wonders of human history, the Hebrew language is not only the oldest tongue, but is also the most significant.  Adam, the first man, spoke Hebrew, and the Kabbala teaches that G-d created the world with the letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

But although Jews always prayed and studied in Hebrew, it was not used as a language of communication until just over a century ago. The revival of Hebrew as a spoken language is one of the least-known miracles of the 20th Century.  Indeed, except for the revival of Hebrew, there is no other known instance of a 'dead language' being resurrected.
